Wild West" is always associated with incredible adventures, romantic heroes, fearless gold diggers, fights of bandits with sheriffs, wars with the indigenous population. This list can be continued endlessly, and no one can say with full confidence that all of the above is true or not true - all this is part of American culture.
The origin of the expression "Wild West" dates back to the period of American history when the Western states were settled to the second half of the XIX century. Initially, the term "Wild West" extended to new territories, which began to be developed by settlers in the XIX century. People were driven there by the need for land that was lacking on the densely populated east coast of America. Others were attracted by the stories of the adventurous gold prospecting in California.
Constant clashes with the local population ("Indian Wars"), robberies of bandits created the concept of "Wild West" some romantic and heroic atmosphere even then. Although not always what was going on corresponded to this image.
This coin shows a scene that immediately evokes associations with the Westerns and the history of the Wild West. On it, you can see a man with a sheriff's badge and a gun. On his side are two bags of money, one of which has a bloody palm print on it. The bags say "Wild West Bank," which reminds us once again of the incredible robberies of those days. This is a coin from the "Faces of America" series, in which you will find many more interesting historical images. Buy silver coins from this series on our website U&A Collectible Coins.
